This home based in Aspe, consists of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a salon, a kitchen, a large garage and numerous outdoor spaces including a swimming pool. The design projects focus on nuances of the relationship between people and spaces whilst optimizing the use of raw materials. The house’s interior features are built meaning the longevity of its existence is taken into consideration for years to come. Seats, tables and small details that respond to the user’s needs are all designed into the surface of the home. The consequential habitual changes in the future have been the focus of our research and numerous nuances have been accounted for. The growth of occupants within the house, the habits and rituals in gatherings and much more will be illustrated at a later date when we upload further progress and construction images.
The ground floor space which is designated as a social hub of home life activity communicates subtly with the exterior garden through the use of a crystal wall and ample windows, creating an all-year-round use and allowing the eye to reach beyond the walls. The centralized staircase divides the kitchen and living room, creating individual and intimate environments without hindering movement flux.
The laundry room is neatly hidden under the staircase and when desired the doors are opened introducing an additional practical space to the kitchen and then hidden when not in use.
The first floor provides the opportunity to extend the building for further bedrooms in the future, the 40m2 bedroom is more than simply a place to sleep. The open space has various elements related to various user habits such as a resting spot next to the small chimney area. Seating throughout this room is carefully considered to allow for moments of contemplation and practicality. The walk-in wardrobe, for example, as opposed to being a space to leave clothes we have converted the wardrobe into a space that allows the user to sit, think and participate with their clothes. Creating a dynamic interactive space means we adapt the perception and experience of our clients within their homes.
